Mimi Hana Threads is now offering embroidery lessons online and in person in Tokyo.

Embroidery lessons online are being offered at Skool.com. Lessons on Skool are $5 per class and are pre-recorded on video at the moment. Here you will learn how to make the 3D embroidery like in my shop. Lessons are being added consistently, so keep checking!

I am also teaching in person at Toritsu Daigaku in Tokyo. Starting August 2026, I will

teach children from 3rd grade and up in English or Japanese. Lessons are 9000 yen per month for 40 min classes. There will be three classes in one month. In this class, I will focus on embroidering in a hoop starting with a yarn needle (the blunt type). As the children improve, we will move on to using a sashiko sized needle to create more delicate work. If your child grows increasingly more interested in embroidery, I will teach more complicated  embroidery techniques like needle painting and how to create their own design. 

Starting in September 2026, I will teach embroidery to adults for one hour classes. 

Here the adults will learn either in English or Japanese. I will offer both hoop work and 3D embroidery lessons. Beginners will start with either the 3D hydrangea lesson or a simple hoop design. As you progress, we will learn more detailed and complicated techniques as well as making your own embroidery designs. These lessons will be 15,000 per month, three times a months. 

 For adults with embroidery experience already and who want to expand their knowledge,

I will teach needle painting hopefully in either September or October. These lessons are also an hour long, three times a month. The goal here is to make an image as if you were painting with thread. Embroidery threads give an Impressionist sort of look to it when needle painting. We will learn the techniques needed for this kind of detailed work. These lessons will be 20,000 yen per month.
